Science in Depth: un nuovo orizzonte per l’educazione scientifica

The SiD – Science in Depth project has been launched, selected and supported by the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale Impresa Sociale.
Arciragazzi Bolzano APS is the lead partner of SiD – Science in Depth, a new initiative in the field of science education. Together with a strong network of partners – the research institutions Fraunhofer Italia and Eco Research, and the association La Strada - der Weg Onlus – and involving local schools (IC Bolzano V Gries 1 “Archimede”, IC Bolzano II Don Bosco “Ada Negri”, IC Bolzano IV “Ugo Foscolo”, and IC Laives “F.Filzi”), SiD aims to bring new energy to scientific learning. The long-standing experience of Arciragazzi Bolzano APS in training, education, scientific outreach, and youth empowerment has led to the creation of a shared educational initiative in the region.
An innovative educational project
Developing deep knowledge and learning is a key challenge in an increasingly fast-paced world. Supported by STEM education experts, approximately 500 students from lower secondary schools (IC Bolzano V “Archimede”, IC Bolzano II “Ada Negri”, IC Laives “F.Filzi”, IC Bolzano VI “Ugo Foscolo”) will have the opportunity to dedicate an entire school year to a STEM-related theme. This is a research-driven, creative, multidisciplinary, and engaging path that brings new perspectives into classroom activities to enhance digital literacy, strengthen research and critical thinking skills, and deepen knowledge in STEM subjects.
The project aims to foster, in and with young people, transversal skills through scientific methods and disciplines—skills that can be applied in various contexts, equipping them with the tools needed to understand and interpret the complexity of our times. In doing so, it contributes to shaping aware and responsible citizens, capable of observing the world with a critical eye.
STEM at school
Dialogue with the school system is considered a key asset, not only for the students’ educational and training journey in STEM but also for teachers and educators. Specific training modules will be offered to them to innovate science teaching, making it increasingly engaging, innovative, and cross-disciplinary.
STEM outside school
Various activities will also take place in extracurricular settings. Together with educators from La Strada - der Weg ONLUS, lab-based courses, workshops, and experiential engagement activities in the field of science will be created for young people, who will be the true protagonists of the initiative.
The future of knowledge begins in depth
The Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale is a public-private partnership (between the Government and the Associazione di Fondazioni e di Casse di Risparmio – Acri) that operates within the digitization goals outlined in the PNRR and PNC. It is funded by contributions from banking foundations, which receive tax credits in return. The Fund selects and supports training and digital inclusion projects targeting various segments of the population such as NEETs, women, unemployed or inactive individuals, workers at risk of job loss due to automation, students from lower and upper secondary schools, social economy operators, and people in detention or vulnerable situations.
Its goal is to assess the impact of supported training projects and scale up the most effective ones, offering best practices to the Government for use in shaping future national policies.
