ARMS

ARMS aims to develop a multifunctional collaborative robotic demonstrator to optimize social and healthcare assistance and clinical logistics, leveraging the most innovative technologies at the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, and Industry 4.0,  contributing to the advancement of the state of the art. In particular, ARMS plans, on the one hand, to combine techniques in the field of learning from demonstrations, to facilitate the programming of the robotic platform, and shared control, to maximize user involvement in the task to be performed while minimizing cognitive effort; on the other hand, to exploit digitization and the digital model of the building (BIM Building Information Modeling) to optimize clinical logistics. All this is synthesized in a mobile robotic demonstrator which, developed and tested in a clinical environment during the design phases, will then be made available within Fraunhofer Italia's ARENA application center at NOI Techpark.

ARMS is the result of a collaboration between Fraunhofer Italia's expertise in robotics and the Melittaklinik nursing home's expertise in medical, nursing, and rehabilitation care. It contributes to the direct development of both partners: Fraunhofer Italia from a technical standpoint, and Melittaklinik in terms of evaluating the possibility of integrating and implementing the technologies developed in its clinical context to streamline processes and services offered. For the region, ARMS represents a concrete opportunity for research institutes and companies to conduct applied research in the field of medical assistance robotics, contributing to the creation of a solid foundation that will enable the Alto Adige region to establish itself over time as a leading player in this field.
